Barnsley - Prisoners of War & Internees

This Community is for men from the Barnsley MBC area who were Prisoners of War or Internees in WW1. It started as the list from the local history book 'Lest Cudworth Forgets' and now names are being added from the lists published in the Barnsley Chronicle, the 1918 Absent Voters' List (where POW is indicated in the 'Office Copy' kept at Barnsley Archives) and Army & Naval Service Records. ------------ It is more difficult to find information on men who survived the First World War, so these sources are invaluable. ------- If you know of a Barnsley Borough man who was a POW please get in touch so he can be added to this community. --------- If you need any assistance adding information to men in this Community on Lives of the First World War I would be happy to help. ----- Linda Hutton IWM Volunteer barnsleyhistorian@gmail.com
