Barnsley - Wortley Men

Wortley is a small village about 7 miles south west of Barnsley town centre. Home to the CAMRA award winning Wortley Men's Club (family friendly!) which holds an outdoor beer festival every summer. The war memorial is the lychgate of St Leonard's Church across the road from the club. It was dedicated in September 1921 and lists 19 WW1 names and 3 WW2 names including a lady, Mabel Turner. http://www.barnsleywarmemorials.org.uk/2014/01/wortley-lychgate-st-leonards-church.html If you are having trouble adding information to men in this Community on Lives of the First World War I would be happy to help. ----- Linda Hutton IWM Volunteer barnsleyhistorian@gmail.com
