Barnsley - Thurnscoe Men

Thurnscoe is a large village 9 miles east of Barnsley town centre. It is very near the boundary with Rotherham. The War Memorial in the park commemorates 88 WW1 names, 63 WW2 names and two men from more recent conflicts. The names have been thoroughly researched by local residents, and in August 2014 Thurnscoe Local History Group presented a popular exhibition in the village with displays of all kinds of WW1 memorabilia, photographs and stories. There are also memorials in the local churches and working men's club. ---------- http://www.barnsleywarmemorials.org.uk/2014/05/war-memorials-t.html -------------- If you are having trouble adding information to men in this Community on Lives of the First World War I would be happy to help. ----- Linda Hutton IWM Volunteer barnsleyhistorian@gmail.com
