Barnsley - Buckley Street (BAR8) & Ebenezer Methodist (BAR54) Chapels

Buckley Street Church is still in existence, although now surrounded by modern housing and flats instead of terraced houses and courts. The church has a brass plaque on the front of their pulpit listing 15 names. Their congregation joined with that of the Ebenezer Chapel from the junction of Doncaster and Sheffield Roads when it was demolished. This is recognised in a joint Roll of Honour, which is read out every year on Remembrance Sunday. A total of 27 men are remembered, some appear on other local memorials, others solely on in this handwritten list. http://www.barnsleywarmemorials.org.uk/2014/08/barnsley-buckley-street-ebenezer-chapel.html ------------ If you are having trouble adding information to men in this Community on Lives of the First World War I would be happy to help. ----- Linda Hutton IWM Volunteer barnsleyhistorian@gmail.com
